पूजा में इस मंत्र उच्चारण होता है- सिन्दूरं शोभनं रक्तं सौभाग्यं सुखवर्धनम्। शुभदं कामदं चैव सिन्दूरं प्रतिगृह्यताम्॥ अर्थात- लाल रंग का सिंदूर शोभा, सौभाग्य और सुख बढ़ाने वाला है। शुभ और सभी कामनाओं को पूर्ण करने वाला है। हे देव! आप स्वीकार करें।
इसी प्रकार देवी-देवताओं के लिए यह मंत्र उच्चारित करें- सिन्दूरमरुणाभासं जपाकुसुमसनिभम्। अर्पितं ते मया भक्त्या प्रसीद परमेश्वरि॥ अर्थात- प्रात:कालीन सूर्य की आभा तथा जवाकुसुम की तरह सिंदूर आपको हम अर्पित करते हैं। हे मां! आप प्रसन्न हों।
